After a short hiatus, Turin-based producer and deejay Alec Pace debuts on the label announcing the release of a two-tracker titled ‘Collider / Juno’. The Italian producer’s forthcoming EP - coming via Early Reflex - follows the previously acclaimed releases ‘Absolute Pressure’ (All Centre) and ‘Luminous’ (Nous Disques) in 2019, and the appearance in a series of compilations in 2020 via Nous Disques, Santé, Demian Tokyo and Early Reflex itself.

Referring to an imaginary landscape which takes inspiration from quantum physics and ancient mythology, the producer delivers two techno-infused DJ tools which hone in on futuristic sound design and functional rhythm. ‘Collider / Juno’ touches soundscape territories yet unexplored by the artist in his previous works and brings together broken rhythmic elements borrowed from old school D’n’B / UKG with vibes and mood that are somehow closer to grime and UK bass.

A-side ‘Collider’ is a functional dancefloor opener focused on the evolution of layered rhythmic patterns and FM synthesised noise-effects where the absence of a more melodic voice is hardly missed. The track begins with a crescendo built around a jumping synth-bass and metallic percussions, which grow the suspension, until the satisfying and unexpected drop of the deepest kick sets the real beginning of the tune.

B-side ‘Juno’ brings the mood into a different sonic world as the producer speeds up the BPM in a more experimental club track. Evolving filtered rhythms and flanging D’n’B style broken beats blend with harmonised vocal samples and melancholic choir pads, depicting an imaginary journey towards an unexplored planet.

‘Collider / Juno’ shows how the Italian producer has developed an “organic” sound design for drum programming and electronic production which puts equal focus on both the ultra-high frequencies and the super-lows; and, where hyper-effected field recordings and FM effects are just some of the distinctive characteristics of Alec Pace’s evolving style.

‘Collider / Juno’ is available on all platforms starting from Thursday 19th November 2020.
