about

Early Reflex returns with its yearly appointment announcing a new V.A. to celebrate its 3rd birthday as a label.
Bringing the title of Flex004 the compilation features a selection of Leftfiled Club and Techno cuts from producers that have both already appeared on the label such as B E N N, Laenz, Sonia Calico and Alec Pace himself and other up and coming artists like Naco, Coe, Kincaid, Scalymoth, Ani Klang and the debut track from Ophélie.

Opening track 'Puzlz' from Kyoto-based producer Naco sets immediately the mood of what this release is going to be about with its experimental take on a two-steps garage tool yet remaining true to the style of artist characterised by deep bass sounds and break-beats.
'Cephalopod' is the contribution from up and coming producer Kincaid, with its dazzling super-processed analogue synthesiser and an acid synth bass becomes an epical 4-on-the-floor techno banger to be dropped at the very peak time of the wildest techno nights.
Brisbane-based producer and DJ Scalymoth drops ‘Trashy’ an ode to drums and an outstanding club tool characterised by syncopated beats, snare rimshots and a pressing kick-drum played on the producer’s TR6s.
Written during one joint session in Taipei ‘Fantasma’ is the collaboration between label’s honcho Alec Pace and the acclaimed DJ/producer from Taiwan Sonia Calico bringing together experimental club and hyper-effected amen beats.
The hypnotic dance of ‘Drive Me’ from Coe follows next where the listener is going to be taken into a musical galaxy of distinguishable sound-palette of the British producer where in a synthesised melody, pitching vocals a the rolling bass-line are the main characters of this track.
B E N N appears again on the imprint with ‘Coming Forth By Day’ a rocking roller sapiently put together by the Taiwanese producer which is characterised by his peculiar multi-layering reverberated sound-design.
An intelligently automated speed-reader take control of the next track ‘Power of 100’, the contribution from American DJ and producer Ani Klang inspired by Jersey club, the producer putting tougher a club tool diverging into ravey territories.
Progressing towards the end of Flex004 more experimental moods develops and eerie sounds and effects emerges in the track ‘Fugue’ from the magical sonic world of New-Yorker Laenz, defined as “an attempt to recreate a sonic tempers of insects”.
‘Sulky Slug’ is the closing track and the production debut of Berlin-based DJ Ophélie, an melancholy slow paced electronic track built around an angelical melody, effected choirs and time-starched sampling.

Flex004 is available on all platforms starting from Friday 9th of June 2023.
