EYX017 welcomes to the imprint Italy-born London-based artist and electronic producer Yraki with an abrasive yet introspective post-club three-tracker titled ‘Percolate’.
Diverging from his past works, such as ‘Argento EP’, which traverse idiosyncratic sound design and dreamlike soundscapes, in ‘Percolate’ the Italian producer dives into dance-floor oriented territories and delivers a set of club-ready weapons, yet remaining true to his nature.
Title-track ‘Percolate’ opens the dance with an incessant beat sealed by aesthetically-carved sound effects while panting vocals and distorted FM synthesisers bring new texture into the development of the track.
Yraki changes the BPM in the following ‘Crawl’ moving into a spooky computer-controlled dubstep-word of bass-heavy glitches, robotic chopped-vocals and overdriven percussions.
Atmospheric pads prelude the opening of drum-heavy ‘Surge’ closing the EP with a meticulously designed functional-ace peak-time roller set to ignite the dance-floor.
Yraki said:
“Percolate emerged at a time of significant personal shifts. I started to become drawn towards a more dystopian aesthetic, as a way to navigate my changing emotional landscape, and attempt to process the chaos circling around me in the wider world. It came at a time of deep questioning - what does it mean to live at the nexus of the technological and the natural, how might we as humans begin to absorb the digital within our own emotional landscapes, and what types of sonic logic should we deploy to explore the embodied experience of this? Deliberately steering away from melodic lines, and leaning into an abrasive, post-club style, formed of both synthetic and natural sources, Percolate invites us to look inwards and feel ourselves as both electronic and ancient beings. This is my attempt to express the complex dualities of the (post)human condition, and in doing so find some sort of release from it.”
‘Percolate’ is available across all platforms on Friday 19th of April 2024.
